Hit 365 days of no food waste last Tuesday, numbers finally clicked for me
I started tracking my food waste back in March 2023 just to see how bad it was. First month I threw away 47 pounds of food, mostly produce I forgot about. That number really bothered me because I always thought I was pretty good about eating leftovers. But when I realized those 47 pounds equaled about 38 gallons of wasted water per pound for growing that food, I finally got why individual climate action at home actually matters. Has anyone else tracked their kitchen waste and been surprised by the numbers?

Wait, you tracked every single pound for a whole year?

Yeah what changed your mind? I used to think tracking every single pound was a waste of time. But then I tried it for a month on just my produce and it was eye opening. @pat_hart, once I saw how much food I was tossing every week it made me rethink my whole shopping routine. Now I do it for the big stuff like meat and dairy. Cuts waste way down and saves me money.
