Got my first compost bin working after 3 failed tries in Denver
Honestly, my first two bins just turned into a soggy mess and my third one got overrun with fruit flies. I finally switched to a tumbler off Craigslist for $30 and started adding shredded cardboard from the mail, and it actually broke down my kitchen scraps in about 6 weeks. The pile hit 140 degrees last Tuesday when I checked it with a probe thermometer, which felt like a huge win. Has anyone else had better luck with tumblers over open piles in a dry climate like this?

Hell no, tumblers dry out way too fast here and you gotta babysit moisture constantly.
