Finally bit the bullet on a heat pump water heater

Our old electric water heater died last month, and I spent about $1800 on a new heat pump model after a lot of research. It was a big chunk of change upfront, but our power bill dropped by almost $40 last month, which is way more than I expected. The install was a bit of a hassle in our tight basement, but it's been running quiet and steady for six weeks now. Has anyone else seen this kind of savings, or did I just get lucky with our old unit being so bad?

Our old heater was a total energy hog too, saving about $35 a month after we switched. That payback period is totally real if your old unit was inefficient. Sounds like you made a solid choice.

Exactly, those monthly savings add up fast. It's the kind of upgrade that pays for itself quietly over time. Makes the initial cost much easier to swallow.
