Vent: I hand scrubbed my chrome for an hour and the guy at the Cars and Coffee in Modesto pointed out I was making it worse
For years I polished my bumpers with the cheapest paste wax I could find, rubbing hard until my arm burned, and always wondered why the shine looked cloudy after a week. Last Saturday a guy with a 63 Impala leaned over and asked what grit I was using, and when I said none he laughed and handed me a microfiber cloth. He showed me that the dust and grit were getting dragged around under my rag, so I was basically sanding the chrome with my own dirt. Now I rinse first, blot with a wet cloth, then go light with a clean dry one, and the difference after 2 washes is not even close. What do you all use to lift road grime off chrome without touching the surface too much?
