Just hit 300 miles on my '66 Mustang since the rebuild and the oil still looks clean
I was honestly expecting to see that dark gray sludge by now, but when I pulled the dipstick last Tuesday the oil was still honey colored. I did the break-in change at 50 miles, then again at 150, and now here I am at 300 and the dipstick still looks fresh on the rag. Makes me think the machine shop down in Tyler actually did the cylinders right for once. For the guys running flat tappet cams, how often are you dumping the oil in that first 500 miles? I'm torn between leaving it alone or playing it safe and swapping it again.
