Warning: My favorite mug with the chip in the rim leaks on the left side but not the right - is it still salvageable?

I dropped my lucky mug from a Portland coffee shop 3 years ago and it got a tiny chip on the rim, but last week I noticed coffee dribbles down my hand every time I drink from the left side. Do you keep using a chipped mug that's still functional but annoying, or do you retire it when the chip starts messing with your morning routine?

Oh honey, I feel for you. That chip is part of the mug's story now, but a leaky side every single morning would drive me up the wall. I had a similar situation with my favorite camping thermos, and I kept it way too long before giving in. The way I see it, if the leak makes you set the mug down more than you pick it up, it's not really your lucky mug anymore. Retire it with a little thank you and find a new one, or just keep it on the shelf for looks and use a plain mug to get your coffee going.
