Vent: That 'character' crack in my 1987 state fair mug is just a flaw

I picked up this mug at the Kansas State Fair back in 1987 and it's got a chip right on the rim that everyone calls 'character'. But honestly, it's just a flaw that catches my lip every single morning now. I keep it because my dad bought it for me, not because the chip adds anything special. After 3 tries with different glazes to smooth it over, I gave up and just drink from the opposite side. Anyone else keep a mug strictly for the memory, not the damage?

Oh, that reminds me of a friend of mine who had a coffee cup from her grandma. It had a crack right down the side, and every time she used it, it would drip down her hand.
