Spent $60 on a fancy mug repair kit and it made things worse

First use of the food-safe epoxy glue bonded my thumb to the chip, and now I have to drink from a scratched plastic cup I found at a thrift shop for 50 cents. Has anyone else tried fixing a mug and just ended up with a bigger mess?

Wait, you bonded your thumb to the chip? That's actually kind of hilarious in the worst way possible. I used to think those fancy repair kits were a total scam too, but after reading this I'm starting to think they're actually worse than I imagined. I mean, I spent like $30 on a similar one last year and ended up with a lumpy mess that looked like a potato glued to my favorite travel mug. Honestly that scratched plastic cup sounds more reliable than anything I've fixed with epoxy.

Oh man, that potato mug story got me good. My buddy tried to fix a cracked phone screen with one of those cheap epoxy kits and ended up gluing his AirPods case to his coffee table for two days. So yeah, I'll take the scratched cup over that disaster any time.
