PSA: I spent $38 on a mug repair kit and it made my favorite chip worse
So against my better judgment I bought one of those ceramic repair kits online for $38 to fix the chip on my 12 year old mug from a trip to Portland. Big mistake. The epoxy they give you expands when it dries and after 2 days the little chip turned into a hairline crack running halfway down the side. I followed the directions exactly, let it cure for the full 24 hours, and it still pushed the ceramic apart. Meanwhile my buddy just keeps using his chipped mug as is and it has lasted 8 years without leaking a drop. Honestly I think most of these repair kits are a waste and the mug clubs that swear by them are just trying to sell something. Anyone here actually had luck with a repair kit or do you all just live with the chip?
