My sister called my favorite coffee mug 'garbage' last week because of the big chip on the rim.

She said it looks like I'm drinking from a busted teacup, but that mug got me through three years of night shifts at the diner in Toledo and I swear the chip actually makes the coffee taste better somehow, has anyone else noticed their chipped mugs just hit different?

Dude it's a coffee mug, not a family heirloom. Like yeah I get the nostalgia thing but calling out your sister for calling a chipped mug garbage feels like a lot of energy for something you probably grabbed for free from a diner closet. There's no magic chip that improves the taste, that's just your brain tricking you cause you got used to it. Maybe just buy a new mug and keep the old one for home use if it means that much to you.
