My grandpa's old mug with the missing handle...

I inherited this chipped mug from my grandpa who passed away 3 years ago. The handle broke off about 6 months ago and I almost tossed it, but my mom told me he used it every morning for 40 years. Now I just hold it with a dish towel if the coffee gets too hot. Does anyone else keep using mugs even after the handle snaps off?

Keep using it. That mug has more character than anything you can buy new these days. I noticed people toss things the second they get a crack or a stain, but the stuff that lasts is the stuff that gets repaired over and over. Your grandpa proved that for 40 years, and now you're carrying it on, literally. A missing handle just means you gotta hold it different, which is a small price for keeping that memory close.
