My grandpa's 1978 mug went from brown stained to almost white with one denture tablet
So my grandpa used this plain white mug every day from 1978 until he passed in 2016, and it was so stained brown inside that I honestly thought the ceramic was just made that color. I kept it on my shelf for years but never drank from it because coffee tasted weird in it. Then a guy at the diner in Dayton told me to drop one effervescent denture tablet in with hot water and let it sit 20 minutes. I did it three times over a weekend and the inside went from dark brown to almost bright white, I could not believe my eyes. The little chip on the rim is still there of course, that part never changes. Now I use it every morning and it feels like getting a piece of him back. Has anyone else tried denture tablets on a really stubborn stain, or is there something better for the ring that is left near the bottom?
