My grandma's old mug with the cracked handle finally made sense to me

I used to think my grandma was just cheap for keeping that chipped brown mug with the cracked handle around, but last month at her place in Tulsa she handed me coffee in it and said 'this mug survived 40 years of bad mornings, that's more than I can say for any man I dated.' She was laughing but I got it, that mug is proof you don't toss something just because it's got a few battle scars. Now I keep a dented travel mug from my first flooring job that everyone told me to trash, and honestly I reach for it every day. Anyone else have a mug that a relative basically talked you into keeping?
