My favorite mug finally bit the dust last week after 12 years of service
I got this mug from a gas station in Flagstaff back in 2012 on a road trip. It had this goofy cartoon cactus on it and the handle was already chipped when I bought it for $3. Last Tuesday I dropped it in the sink and a big crack ran right down the middle. I tried super glue but it leaks coffee all over my hand now. It's sitting on my shelf because I can't bring myself to toss it yet. Anyone else keep a broken mug around way longer than you should?

My old coffee cup got a crack in it last year and I just turned it into a pen holder on my desk. Doesn't leak on me now and I still get to look at the dumb cartoon moose on it every day. Works way better than tossing it in the trash. Might be worth a try for yours.

Nah, I gotta disagree. A cracked cup is a cracked cup. Once that thing gets a hairline fracture, you're just asking for mold to grow in the little crevices you can't clean. No amount of "making it a pen holder" changes that. Plus, who wants pens sitting in something that used to hold hot coffee? The old coffee residue and stains just get all over your pens. I'd rather just chunk it and buy a new one for ninety-nine cents. Seems like more trouble than it's worth.
