Cracked mug from my old station is now my favorite, but here's the catch

I used to just toss any mug that got a chip, figured it was unsanitary or whatever. Then last April my grandma's mug took a hit in the dishpit at work and I nearly panicked. Now I wash it by hand with warm water and a soft sponge, never in the machine, and I check the crack every morning before coffee. It's got this hairline fracture that's been stable for 8 months, but a coworker told me to stop microwaving it and honestly I'm scared to push it. Anyone else got a mug with a crack that's holding strong but makes you nervous every single day?
