Wasted $150 on a magnetic sweep tool that barely worked

I bought this fancy magnetic rod for cleaning out soot and ash from tight flues. Thought it would save me time on the real tight jobs, you know? Ended up missing half the debris because the magnets were too weak for the buildup we actually deal with. Stuck with a regular brush and vacuum combo now. Anyone else fall for a gimmicky tool that just cost you money?

Man that's rough. In my experience those magnetic tools work great in theory but fall apart with any real buildup. Your mileage may vary but I've found that the only way to get a tight flue really clean is to stick with the manual brush and a shop vac with a hepa filter. Tried a similar magnetic rod a couple years back and ended up having to go back over everything with a regular brush anyway. Sometimes the old school way really is the best way.

Pretty sure we're not exactly curing cancer here. It's just a dirty chimney, not brain surgery.
