Vent: the 'pro' creosote log my buddy swore by did nothing for my 80 foot flue
He kept pushing that additive log for months, claiming it would cut my brushing time in half on the old masonry stack behind the hardware store. I ran two of them through back in March, then still pulled 5 gallons of shiny black glaze off the smoke shelf last Tuesday. Is there any chemical that actually softens baked-on creosote, or is this always just a gimmick for weekend warriors?

Used to swear by them for years, then I scraped out a pint per log and went back to the brush.
