The day a squirrel came down with the soot

Was doing a routine sweep on a 200-year-old house in Salem last Tuesday and halfway through the brush, this little critter shoots out of the flue, completely black from head to tail. It ran circles around the hearth for a solid minute before darting out the back door we'd left open. Took me a good 20 minutes to get the soot paw prints off the hardwood, and the homeowner just laughed and said 'he's been up there for weeks.' Has anyone else had wildlife make an unscheduled exit mid-sweep?

Once got dive-bombed by a furious mama pigeon mid-flue. Ten minutes of ash down my shirt.
