That $15 nylon brush I grabbed on a whim actually cleared a stuck creosote damper in 10 minutes flat...
Been fighting that stubborn damper in a 1920s house in Buffalo for three weeks and tried everything from a metal scraper to a shop vac before I just bought this cheap brush at Ace and it slid right through the gunk... anyone else got a tool that surprised them?

Dude! My buddy Pete had the exact same thing happen with an old coal furnace in his basement. He was about to call a pro, then grabbed a cheap paintbrush from the dollar store and it just wiped the soot right off the flue. Still makes him laugh how simple it was.

Right?! I did the same thing with a brush from the hardware store, felt like a genius after trying everything else first.
