Steel brushes vs. poly whips, I switched after 19 years and wish I did it sooner

Been sweeping since 2005 and always used a steel wire brush, even on the newer stainless liners. Kept thinking the poly whips were just a gimmick, more for the weekend DIY crowd. Last fall I did a job over in Salem on a 6 year old insert and the liner was getting chewed up something bad. Customer's wife actually said, "our last guy never left marks like this." That stung. Bought a 20 foot poly whip that weekend. Total game changer. It spins smoother, picks up creosote just as good, and I'm not gouging the smooth liner anymore. Took me a few jobs to find the right speed, but now I won't go back. Has anyone else out there made the switch late and noticed their liner work lasting longer?

Man thats the story with so much stuff honestly. I remember when I finally ditched my old corded drill for a brushless one after like a decade and felt dumb for fighting it so long. Same thing with those quick connect fittings on hoses, swore theyd leak and now theyre all I use. Its like we get stuck in our ways cause the old way works okay enough and change feels like admitting we were wrong. But once you see the difference its hard to unsee it. Probably applies to every trade out there.
