Serious question, I was sure the new fiberglass rods were just a gimmick until one saved my back on a 40-foot flue in a Charleston historic district home.

I used a standard set for the first 20 feet and was already feeling it, but the lighter weight of the fiberglass sections for the upper part meant I could finish the job without needing a full day to recover, so has anyone else made the switch and noticed a real difference in long-term wear and tear?

Fiberglass is just a passing trend that'll snap when you really need it.

Wait, did you actually say fiberglass will snap? Have you ever seen a real fiberglass pole break under normal use? I've watched people put serious weight on those things and they just bend, they don't snap like cheap plastic. Matthew Dixon, where are you getting your info from? That stuff is way tougher than you're making it sound. It's not some flimsy trend, it's built to flex on purpose.
