I wasted $200 on a fancy chimney camera that barely works
Bought one of those expensive wireless inspection cameras online last month. Thought it would save me time on diagnosing flue issues but the picture keeps cutting out halfway up the stack. Ended up having to use my old mirror and flashlight setup anyway. Has anyone else had bad luck with those bluetooth models?

That bluetooth chimney camera is basically a scam for anyone with a stack over two stories. The signal just dies once you get past the first bend or any brick that's too thick. I've heard the same complaints from three different guys at the supply house, all with different brands. My mirror and drop light have never failed me in fifteen years, so I don't know why I thought technology would suddenly work. Those things are great for a straight cleanout pipe but useless for actual flue work. Save your money and stick with the old tools, seriously.
