I thought those cheap plastic chimney caps were a total waste of money

A client in Phoenix insisted I install one on his flue last month, and after the big monsoon storm, his chimney was bone dry while the neighbor's had a puddle. What's the best metal cap brand you guys trust for high wind areas?

Actually saw a locking band cap fail in a Texas thunderstorm last year, the whole unit ripped clean off. For real high wind, a heavy duty stainless steel cap with through-bolt mounting is the only thing that stays put. The band just isn't enough when you get those sudden 70 mph gusts.

Locking band style caps are key for wind.
