I finally switched from a standard wire brush to a poly brush for prefab chimneys and it cut my cleanup time in half.
The poly bristles don't snag on the metal seams like wire does, so you're not fighting the liner the whole time, and have you guys found a better way to handle the creosote dust from those inserts?

My buddy Dave tried that exact switch last season. He said the poly brush just glides through the prefab sections without catching, but he still ends up with a cloud of fine dust from the insert. He started using a small shop vac with a HEPA filter right at the fireplace opening as he works, which seems to catch most of it.

Dave's shop vac trick sounds like a real game changer for that fine dust.
