Got tired of buying wire brushes every month, switched to a poly head
I mean, for like 2 years I was buying those cheap steel wire brushes from the hardware store. Every month or so the bristles would bend out or snap off on heavy creosote, and I'd be out another $8. Last week I finally tried one of those poly abrasive heads on a drill for a flue in a house over in Maplewood. It took maybe 3 passes instead of 5, but honestly the real win was that it held up for the whole job, no shedding. Has anyone else made that switch and seen it last longer, or am I just getting lucky with the stuff I'm cleaning?

Remember poly heads still can't replace steel on really baked-on creosote, so keep that steel brush handy for the tough stuff.
