Everyone swears by the HEPA filter but I'm sticking with my old bag setup

I was at a job over on Maple Street last Tuesday cleaning out a wood stove insert that had been burning nothing but pine for two winters. The guy had one of those fancy HEPA vacs sitting right there, top of the line, cost him like 800 bucks. I used my old Dust Deputy with a standard bagged shop vac instead because that's what I've always done. Took me 45 minutes to get through all that creosote and ash buildup. When I was done I dumped the bag into a contractor bag and sealed it up. No dust cloud, no mess. The homeowner tried to tell me I was doing it wrong and that his HEPA setup was better. I asked him how often he changes the pre-filter on that thing. He just stared at me. Has anyone else noticed these expensive vacs just push the problem down the road instead of actually solving it?

Guess I'll just keep being old school and dusty then.

Yeah, I feel that. Seems like common sense still wins out.
