Cutting corners on a liner inspection cost me a $900 repair
A master sweep I met at a trade show in Portland told me to always pull the flex liner and run a camera down the exterior stack before signing off on a reline. I figured that was overkill for a simple gas insert swap I did last month. Skipped it, homeowner called three weeks later about a weird smell. Turns out the old clay tile had a crack behind the damper that the camera would've caught. I was back there for two days chipping tile and rerunning the liner from the roof. Does anyone actually scope the full stack on every job or just when you suspect trouble?
