Creosote buildup looked different after I switched brush types

Been doing this 8 years around Portland. Always used wire brushes. Last spring I tried a poly brush on a job with heavy glaze. Noticed the sweepings came out in flakes instead of that sticky powder. Customer said the flue looked cleaner than ever. Took me three more jobs to see it was the brush, not the wood they burned. Anyone else see a big difference switching brush materials?

Doubt it's the brush, most of that difference is just the wood and weather that week.
