Cleaning a fireplace in an old house in Savannah made me rethink my whole process
Last month I was working on a 1920s home in Savannah, and the flue was packed with this weird, crumbly soot that kept falling back down. I tried my usual brush and rods, but it just made a huge mess on their new hardwood. The owner said, 'Maybe try from the bottom up for a change?' I did, and it worked way better, keeping the debris contained in the firebox. Has anyone else found that old houses need a totally different approach?
