A creosote pancake at a rental in Denver nearly cost me my license

Last month I pulled a solid six-inch slab of glazed creosote out of a chimney on Colfax Avenue and the homeowner told me it was 'just normal soot,' so now I document every sweep with photos before and after, has anyone else run into renters who won't believe what you find?

Heard about a buddy of mine who does chimney work over in Aurora, and he pulled out a giant bird nest plus some cracked liner tiles. The renter stood there arguing that the cracks were just from the house settling and tried to talk him out of taking photos. He snapped a few anyway, and two weeks later that same flue had a small fire that the fire marshal traced straight back to the liner. The renter tried to blame him for not catching it, but his photos saved his insurance claim and his reputation. Good thing he documented everything, cause people will lie right to your face when money's on the line. Did the homeowners give you any trouble about the photos before you took them?
