Rant: The sous chef who told me I was mincing garlic wrong in front of a full pass
I was working a Friday night dinner service at this Italian joint in Portland, about 80 covers deep, and this new sous chef stops mid-plate to correct my garlic cut in front of the whole line. "You're dragging the knife, not rocking it," he says loud enough for the expo to hear. Has anyone else had a coworker call you out in front of the whole kitchen instead of just pulling you aside after? Feels like that's a respect thing you just don't break.

Told him straight up after service that I appreciated the technique tip but next time pull me aside. He actually apologized the next day and we ended up cool.

Buddy of mine had a cook do the exact same thing right in front of a full dining room. Called him out loud enough for guests to turn around. My friend didn't say anything, just finished the shift and chewed him out in the walk-in after. Guy never did it again.
