Pro tip: I used to think a cheap mandoline was fine until I sliced my thumb open last month
I mean, I bought a $20 plastic one from a restaurant supply store and it was always a bit wobbly. After the accident, I finally got a proper Benriner and the difference is night and day. The blade is way sharper and the guard actually holds stuff securely. Has anyone else made the switch after a close call?

My sister gave me a cheap mandoline as a gift and I swear it was trying to kill me. The guard would just pop off if you looked at it wrong. I upgraded to a decent one after I nearly took off my fingerprint. It's not even about the money, it's about keeping your fingers attached.

Oh man, I feel that. Those cheap ones are straight up dangerous. Good call on the upgrade.
