TIL the hard way why you never grab a hot cast iron handle, even with a towel, after what happened at my buddy's cabin in Bend
I was at my buddy's place in Bend over the weekend and he pulled a 12 inch skillet out of a 450 degree oven, set it on the stove, and about 30 seconds later his wife grabbed the handle with a thin dish towel. The towel was damp and the heat went right through it, so now she has a second degree burn across her palm and we spent the rest of the night at urgent care instead of eating. Does anyone here keep a dedicated thick leather glove or silicone sleeve clipped to the stove just for this, or do you just drill it into everyone's head to never touch it bare?
