The guy who told me my pan was 'too new' to cook eggs
At a flea market last month, I was looking at a beat up old skillet and this older guy walks up and says my pan at home is too new for fried eggs. He said you need at least 20 years of seasoning before eggs slide off. I told him I've been using my pan for 3 years and eggs come out fine. He just shook his head and walked away. Now I'm wondering if he was messing with me or if some people really believe that. Has anyone else gotten weird gatekeeping advice about cast iron from strangers?

That old timer sounds like he's got some secret cast iron society membership card and he's guarding the gates. I'm sure your eggs are just fine, my grandma used a scratched up nonstick from the 80s and her eggs were perfect. Some people just need to feel superior about their rusty cookware to make up for other things in life, you know? Probably the same kind of person who says you can't make a good grilled cheese unless you've been using the same butter knife for 15 years. Next time tell him you only cook your eggs in a pan that's been seasoned with the tears of gatekeepers.
