Talked to my grandma about her old skillet

She told me she's been using the same Lodge since 1965. Never once stripped and reseasoned it, just cooked bacon and cornbread every week. Makes me wonder if I'm overthinking my seasoning routine. Anybody else got a family piece that's been low-maintenance for decades?

Hang on, never once stripped it in almost 60 years? That's wild. My grandma's skillet is pretty low maintenance too, just wipe it out after frying and it's good. Guess if the food's sticking you fix something, but if it works it works.

Betty Crocker actually published a cast iron care guide in the 50s that said to never use soap.
