PSA: my 10 inch pan went from sticky brown to glassy black in 8 weeks, and the oven did it
I was cooking bacon and eggs in my 10 inch Lodge every morning but the seasoning kept flaking off in the middle and looked patchy brown. My uncle in Tulsa told me to quit babying it with thin oil coats and just bake it upside down at 450 for an hour with a light wipe of Crisco. I did that once a week for 8 weeks and now it is slick enough that a fried egg slides around with no butter at all. The brown spots are gone and the surface looks like black glass in the light. Anyone else skip the stovetop seasoning and just use the oven for a full reset?
