Walked through an old carpet mill in Dalton last month
I was down in Dalton Georgia checking out a supplier and they let me wander through this old mill that closed down in the 90s. You could still see the carpet patterns on the concrete floor where the machines used to sit. It got me thinking about how different things are now compared to back then. We used to stretch everything by hand with knee kickers and spend 20 minutes on a single seam. Now I see guys walking in with power stretchers and seam irons that do half the work for them. The old timers could tell you the exact stretch percentage for any carpet type without looking it up. Has anyone else visited an old plant or warehouse and felt like the trade moved too fast?

20 minutes on a single seam? That's insane.

Did they say why it took that long? Was it something specific like a tricky fit or playing with a weird fabric?
