Saw a 12 year old Berber come back to life after one pass with the cruddiest brush
Pulled up to a rental in Dayton last Tuesday and the living room carpet looked flat out dead, matted down and gray. Did a test patch with a stiff brush and some hot water and the pile popped right back up in like 20 minutes, the homeowner couldn't believe it was the same floor. Whens the last time yall had a job where the customer almost cried over a test patch?
A test patch popping up in 20 minutes doesn't mean the carpet is saved, it means you got the top layer wet and the fibers relaxed. Come back in a week once it's dry and been walked on and tell me it still looks alive. That gray matted look usually means the fibers are crushed or worn past the point of no return, and no brush fixes physical damage like that. Hot water and a stiff brush will fluff up just about anything for a day or two, that's just basic fiber swelling, not a real fix. Homeowners cry over test patches all the time and then get mad at you when the whole room looks flat again by the weekend. I'd rather under promise and have them happy later than hand them a miracle that fades.
