Ruined a seam in Denver when my hot iron died mid pull

I was working on a big commercial job in Denver last month, laying a heavy commercial carpet in an office. Right in the middle of pulling a seam, my hot iron just shut off completely. The seam started to lift, and I had to stop everything and wait 20 minutes for a backup iron I keep in my truck to warm up. The glue never set right on that section, and I had to pull the whole run and redo it. Has anyone else had a tool fail at the worst time and had to scrap a day's work?

Wait, was it during a big family gathering too? I had a friend who kicked a carpet stretcher right into his own shin bone, blood everywhere. It was one of those moments where you just freeze and hope nobody saw, but of course everyone did. Did yours leave a scar?
