Old seam tape vs. the new glue-down stuff, I chose wrong

Been at this 15 years and finally had to choose between my usual heat-activated seam tape and this new pressure-sensitive tape a supply house in Des Moines pushed on me. I went with the new tape on a 200-yard commercial job and it lifted in three spots by the next morning. Anyone else ever get burned trying something new instead of sticking with what worked for years?

Learned that lesson on my own kitchen floor once, what a disaster that was.

Wait, did you actually try to flip a full sheet cake onto a serving stand by yourself? Because I tried that once with a three-layer chocolate cake I'd spent all afternoon on. Ended up with frosting on the ceiling fan and the cake basically folded into a sad, crumpled mess on the linoleum. Had to eat it out of a bowl with a spoon, which was honestly not the worst part, just the most humiliating.
