Nailed my first curved staircase yesterday at a house in Oak Park

Had been dreading this job for 2 weeks, but the homeowner wanted a runner with a border pattern. Took me 4 hours just on the winding section but got every seam to line up perfect. Anyone else tackle staircases differently with patterns vs solids?

Buddy of mine tried doing a patterned runner on a spiral staircase and spent almost a whole day ripping out seams he couldn't match up. He swore off patterns after that and just sticks with solids for tricky curves now. Said the headache wasn't worth the extra money.

Hell yeah, same here. That job just changed my whole mindset on patterns.
