Hit 5000 square feet in a single job last month and my knees are still angry

I took on a warehouse office build out that was all open plan, figured it would be smooth sailing with a power stretcher and a good crew. We ended up pushing through 5000 square feet of commercial grade carpet in two days because the client added a last minute deadline. Anyone else ever take on a job that big and regret not pacing it out better?

I read somewhere that adding an extra day per 2000 square feet of commercial carpet can save your body from a lot of the long term damage. Your knees aren't going to forget two days of 2500 feet each, especially if you were using a power stretcher the whole time. I heard a guy say that stretching 60 foot rolls in an open plan is way harder on the joints than doing smaller rooms with a kicker. The constant bending and re-stretching in a wide open space just grinds down the cartilage faster. Hope you're icing them and taking glucosamine, or you might be feeling that job for years.

I dunno @charliew99, I've been doing this for like fifteen years and I'm not sure it's that grim. My knees creak sometimes but I'm still walking fine. I had a buddy who tore through 4000 feet in a weekend with a power stretcher and he's still out there running 5Ks every morning. Guess it depends on the person. I think people overestimate the long term wear because they focus on one bad day instead of decades of other stuff wearing them down too.
