Had a power stretcher kick out on me mid-job today

I was laying a nice plush carpet in a bedroom in Oakville this morning and halfway through the stretch my power stretcher just popped off the tack strip. The whole carpet shifted and I had a bubble the size of a dinner plate near the wall. I was already 45 minutes into the job so I was pretty frustrated. Turns out the tack strip had a bad section where the pins were bent down from a previous install. I had to pull the strip near the door and replace about 3 feet of it before I could restretch. Ended up working fine but it added 20 minutes to a job I thought I had dialed in. Anyone else run into bad tack strip sections that mess up your day?

I used to blame myself but now I check every strip before I even start.

That's fair to take a more proactive approach, but I think it's easy to go too far the other way. Checking every single strip can become its own kind of obsession, you know? Sometimes you just gotta trust the process a little and not overthink it.
