Had a homeowner cry happy tears today after I finished her bedroom carpet

She said it was the first room in her new house that felt like home. Made me remember why I got into this trade 12 years ago in the first place. Anyone else ever get a reaction like that on a job?

12 years in, my cousin's been doing kitchens for 20. He had a lady cry over a backsplash tile she picked out herself, said it matched her grandma's kitchen from the 70s. That's the real stuff nobody talks about - you're not just laying carpet or tile, you're building a place where someone's gonna have their first coffee in the morning or fall asleep on the floor with their dog. Most people don't stop to notice how much a finished room changes the whole feel of a house, but you just don't forget the ones who do.
