Best money I ever made was a 12-hour day last Tuesday, no breaks, just laying carpet for this huge open plan office.

The client wanted everything done by Friday for their Monday opening, so I brought in two extra guys and we knocked out 2,000 square feet of commercial grade broadloom in a single shot. Has anyone else had a job where the timeline was insane but the payout made it totally worth it?

Man, that's a lot of carpet. I'm glad you got paid well for it, but 12 hours straight with no breaks? That sounds brutal for your body. I've done long days before, but I always take at least 15 minutes to eat something and let my back rest. Were you just running on energy drinks the whole time? It's one thing to bust your butt for a deadline, but another to wreck yourself for a single job.

It's wild how normalized this hustle mentality has gotten, you know? Like people brag about pulling all-nighters or skipping meals just to get stuff done and we're supposed to clap for it. I see it everywhere now, not just in construction or trades but regular office workers and even friends running errands act like being completely drained is a badge of honor. A 12 hour stretch on your feet with no break isn't a flex, it's just a fast track to hating your body by the time you're forty.
