Used to swear by my old framing hammer, finally switched to a lighter one
I was that guy who thought a heavy 28oz framing hammer was the only way to drive nails fast. Then my elbow started barking at me after a long day on a roof in Glendale. My partner let me borrow his 20oz titanium Stiletto on a Friday job and I drove 16d nails just as quick with way less rebound. I still like a bit of weight for big headers, but honestly, has anyone else found a good middle weight that works for both?

So your partner's Stiletto got you thinking about the sweet spot. Is that 20oz titanium the one you're comparing everything to now, or are you looking for something cheaper?

Used to think that spending over a hundred on a hammer was just showing off, but now I totally get it. @the_sandra your partner’s Stiletto made me realize balance is way more important than price. Mine’s a 20oz titanium and compared to cheaper ones, it just feels right every swing. Used to think a hammer is a hammer, but gripping that for a full day changed my mind fast. Now I’m not sure I can go back to something that feels off in the hand. It’s not about the brand, it’s about the sweet spot you mentioned.
