My first pocket hole jig job turned into a disaster
I bought a Kreg jig three months ago. Thought it would make my cabinet build easy. First project was a set of shelves for my garage. Used cheap screws from the hardware store. Every single joint pulled apart after two weeks. The screws just didn't grab right. I called a buddy who builds kitchens for a living. He told me I used screws that were too short and the wrong thread type. Now I only buy the Kreg brand screws. Anybody else learned that lesson the hard way?

I mean, is it really that big of a deal though? Like yeah, using super short screws with the wrong threads is gonna mess things up, but worst case you just swap 'em out and redo it. I've used cheap screws from the hardware store plenty of times and they held fine for my stuff. Maybe it's just me but a shelf in the garage falling apart after two weeks doesn't sound like the end of the world, it's a garage shelf. Idk, I feel like people get way too dramatic about these little mistakes.
