Just realized my framing nailer was set too hot for 6 months and I never checked
Had a rough afternoon framing a garage in Reno when three 16d nails in a row sunk clean through the 2x4 top plate. I grabbed my old hitachi and fired a test shot into scrap, and every single nail was buried a quarter inch below the surface. Turns out I bumped the depth dial when I was swapping out a jammed strip back around Thanksgiving and just never thought about it again. So for half a year I've been sinking nails on every wall I touched, which means lots of callbacks and probably a few punch lists I blamed on bad lumber. Anybody got a quick check they run before each job so something like this doesn't sneak up on you?
