I wrote off the Festool Domino as overpriced junk until I used one on a real job
For years I told anyone who would listen that the Domino was just a fancy toy for guys with more money than sense. I mean, a biscuit joiner does the same thing for a fraction of the cost, right? Then last spring I took on a dining table job for a client in Portland and the legs needed to come off for moving. I borrowed my buddy's Domino 500 for the mortise and tenon work and I have to admit, I was wrong. The whole setup took maybe 20 minutes versus the hour and a half I would have spent chiseling and fitting by hand. The alignment was dead on and I didn't have to fight with any clamps. Has anyone else had a tool they hated on principle but then caved and found out it actually earned its keep?

Buy one used if you can find a deal. That's what I did and it paid for itself in a weekend.

Paying for itself in a weekend? That's wild, @andrewh95 I can't believe a used one actually breaks even that fast.
