Had a cabinet maker tell me my miter saw was way off

He checked it with a digital angle finder and found it was 0.3 degrees out - been fighting gaps on crown molding for 6 months. Anybody else ever have a cheap saw just drift over time like that?

Man, I used to be one of those people who swore you just needed to tune up a cheap saw once and it'd be fine forever. Totally thought all the hype about expensive ones was just tool snobs being extra. But after fighting with my own cuts for months and finally checking it with a decent digital gauge, I saw it was a few tenths off too. It's kind of wild how a tiny bit of drift can mess with everything, especially crown molding where every angle matters. Definitely changed my mind about just setting it and forgetting it.

Man, I feel you on that. It's funny how something so small can drive you crazy for months before you finally figure it out. I had the same rude awakening with my own saw last year, and it really made me rethink all my "good enough" setups.
